These Crockpot Root Beer Chicken Wings come out crispy, spicy, sweet, and tangy - everything a great wing should be, in one little package.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 lb chicken wing drummettes
1 cup root beer
1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Spray crockpot with cooking spray. Place chicken in slow cooker.
  • In medium bowl, stir root beer, barbecue sauce, brown sugar and pepper flakes until well blended. Reserve 1 cup sauce. Pour remaining sauce over chicken. Stir to coat drummettes.
  • Cover; cook on Low 4 hours.
  • Once cooking is done. Set your oven to broil. Line a baking sheet with foil. Place chicken on pan (discard liquid in the crockpot). Brush with reserved 1 cup sauce. Broil tops of chicken until browned. Turn chicken and brush with sauce and boil that side until browned.

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (6 ounces each)
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup root beer
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
4 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons grated lemon zest

Steps:

  • Flatten chicken breasts slightly. In a large skillet, cook chicken in oil for 4-6 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 170°. Remove and keep warm., Stir the root beer, brown sugar, ketchup, mustard and lemon zest into the skillet. Bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 6-8 minutes or until thickened. Return chicken to skillet; heat through.
