This super creamy mac 'n' cheese is so simple it seems almost too easy! Kids really go for the rich cheese flavor, but I've never met an adult who didn't love it too. -Ann Bowers, Rockport, Texas

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni (about 8 ounces)
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1-1/2 cups half-and-half cream
3/4 pound process cheese (Velveeta), cubed
Optional toppings: fresh arugula, halved cherry tomatoes and coarsely ground pepper

Steps:

  • Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain., Meanwhile, in a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour until smooth; gradually whisk in cream. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes. Reduce heat; stir in cheese until melted., Add macaroni; cook and stir until heated through. Top as desired.

1/2 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, if desired
1/4 cup water
1 egg
1 pound lean (at least 80%) ground beef
2 cups spaghetti sauce
3/4 cup water
1 cup uncooked small elbow macaroni

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. In small bowl, stir together Bisquick® mix, cheese, garlic powder, 1/4 cup water and the egg; set aside.
  • In ovenproof 10-inch skillet, cook beef over medium heat about 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain. Stir in spaghetti sauce, 3/4 cup water and the macaroni. Heat to boiling, about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Spoon Bisquick® mixture around edge of skillet, leaving center open.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until top is golden brown. Sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.

1/2 cup Bisquick mix
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup water
1 egg
1 lb. ground beef
2 cups tomato pasta sauce
3/4 cup water
1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni (4 oz.(

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375 degrees. In small bowl, stir Bisquick mix, cheese, garlic powder, 1/4 cup water and the egg with wire whisk or fork until blended; set aside. In 10-" oven proof skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat 5 - 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until thoroughly cooked; drain. Stir in pasta sauce, 3/4 cup water and the macaroni. Heat to boiling, about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Spoon Bisquick mixture around edge of meat mixture in skillet, leaving center open. Bake uncovered 20 to 25 mins. or until top is golden brown. Sprinkle with more cheese if desired. Cook's Note: If you don't have an ovenproof skillet cook the beef mixture in a skillet and pour it into a greased 2-quart casserole. Spoon the Bisquick mixture on top and bake.
