Steps:
- Place bread in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish; set aside. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in mustard. Sprinkle sausage and cheese evenly over bread. , In a large bowl, beat eggs, milk, cream and pepper. Pour over cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve immediately.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F.
- Arrange bread slices in single layer on bottom of 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray; top with sausage, vegetables and 1/2 cup cheddar.
- Beat eggs in medium bowl. Stir in cottage cheese; pour over ingredients in pan.
- Bake 25 min. Sprinkle with remaining Cheddar. Bake an additional 5 min. or until center is set. Let stand 10 min. before serving.

This layered sausage casserole is great to make for company or on holiday mornings. My family just loves it. The prep time does not include the time for chilling overnight.

Steps:
- Brown sausage in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until evenly cooked; drain and set aside.
- Layer bread cubes, sausage and cheese in a lightly greased 7x11-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, salt, dry mustard, cayenne, black pepper and garlic powder.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread cube mixture.
- Cover, and refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight.
- Remove the casserole from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Bake 50-60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
