SARA'S HERB ROLLS (BREAD MACHINE)

I made these finner last night to go with my pumpkin soup (http://www.recipezaar.com/315583). They were delicious, and the smell while they were cooking was divine! Cooking time includes bread machine, and rising time.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups flour
1 tablespoon skim milk powder
2 teaspoons dried yeast
1 tablespoon olive oil
200 ml water
2 teaspoons mixed Italian herbs
4 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Add flour, milk powder, yeast, olive oil, and water to your bread machine, and set to the "dough" setting. When your machine beeps, add the cheese, herbs and garlic.
  • When dough is ready, divide into 18 pieces, shape into rolls, and arrange on a greased oven tray. Spray a piece of cling wrap with olive oil, and place over top of rolls. Sit in a warm place, and allow to rise (around 15-20 minutes).
  • Bake at 180C for around 20 minutes, or until golden brown.

GARLIC CHEESE ROLLS FOR BREAD MACHINE

I've been making this recipe for several years but I don't remember where I found it. It's very good with Italian dishes.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup water
3 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
2 teaspoons yeast
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 garlic clove, crushed
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, more, if needed

Steps:

  • Place first 7 ingredients in bread pan and select dough cycle.
  • When cycle is finished, turn dough onto a floured countertop or cutting board (use flour sparingly).
  • Gently roll and stretch dough into a 24 inch rope.
  • Grease two 8 inch pie pans or one 13x9 pan.
  • With a sharp knife, divide dough into 24 pieces.
  • Shape into balls; place into prepared pans.
  • In small bowl, combine butter and garlic; pour over rolls.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  • Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes until doubled.
  • Bake at 375º for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven, cut apart, and serve warm.

BREAD MACHINE GARLIC HERB BREAD

Got part of this from an old recepie. Rest was ad-libed.Results everyone loved it. Great for garlic toast a day or so later.

1 cup warm water, 110 degrees f.
1 tablespoon margarine or 1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon powdered milk
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon dry basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons garlic powder
3 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in pan of the bread machine in order recommended by manufacturer.
  • Select dough cycle.
  • Remove dough from pan.
  • Place in a greased 9 x 5 bread pan.
  • Let rise in a warm place 1 hour.
  • Bake 350 in a pre-heated oven 30 min.
  • About 12-16 slices.

These rolls have been a favorite of ours for nearly 25 years. I even baked them in an old wood stove when we lived on a farm. 2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
2-3/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°), divided
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey or molasses
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons dill weed
2 teaspoons dried thyme
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 large egg, room temperature, beaten
4 cups whole wheat flour
4 to 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add the oil, honey, salt, seasonings, egg, whole wheat flour and remaining water. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough all-purpose flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup water (70° to 80°)
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 large egg
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon each dried basil, oregano, thyme and rosemary, crushed
3-1/4 cups bread flour
2-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
Additional butter, melted
Coarse salt, optional

Steps:

  • In a bread machine pan, place the water, butter, egg, sugar, salt, seasonings, flour and yeast in order suggested by manufacturer. Select dough setting(check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed)., When cycle is complete, turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Divide dough into 16 portions; shape each into a ball. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes., Bake at 375° for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush with butter and sprinkle with coarse salt if desired. Remove from pans to wire racks.
