1 large sweet onion
1/2 tablespoon cheese, grated
olive oil, to taste (or Roasted Garlic, Herb Butter, to taste)
salt and pepper
1/2 teaspoon fresh rosemary (or herbs of choice)

Steps:

  • Pierce a whole sweet onion in five or six places with a knife or a pointed chop stick.
  • Put it as is either in a 450 degree oven for 45 minutes (this method will caramelize)or in the microwave oven for 5 on high( this method is steamed but so quick).
  • Remove from oven; cut it in half or open it up.
  • Sprinkle it with grated cheese and olive oil or butter, herbs, salt and pepper.

The quantities should be adjusted to suit your personal taste, recipe calls for ingredients with no quantities.

2 whole sweet onions
2 tablespoons fresh grated cheese (optional)
1 tablespoon melted butter or 1 tablespoon melted margarine
salt, to taste
fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • Roast onions whole (pierced in 5-6 places with knife), as is (that is with skin on or off).
  • If you choose to, microwave on high - 5 minutes on high
  • Roast for 45 minutes.
  • Then season with cheese or not, olive oil, butter or margarine, salt and pepper.
  • Enjoy - they are yummy!
  • *I used grated Parmesan cheese.
