BROWN RICE, BROCCOLI, CHEESE AND WALNUT SURPRISE
This recipe was born one night when I didn't have too much to do. I guess the only surprise about it is that it tastes so good!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place walnuts on small baking sheet, and bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until toasted.
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook onion and garlic in melted butter for 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in the rice, add the broth, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover, and simmer until liquid is absorbed, about 7 to 8 minutes.
- Place broccoli in a microwave-safe casserole dish, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover, and microwave until tender.
- Spoon rice onto a serving platter, and top with broccoli. Sprinkle walnuts and cheese on top.

- Preheat oven to 325*. Grease an 8" x 13" baking dish. Sprinkle cooked rice over the bottom of the dish. Pour mushroom soup, celery soup, and milk in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until hot; DO NOT BOIL. Lay pieces of chicken over rice, skin-side up. Sprinkle dry onion soup over chicken. Pour mushroom soup mixture over dry onion soup. Cover tightly with foil. Bake at 325* for 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Steps:
- 1. 1. place Flour in shallow plate. 2. Heat oil in pan to med high. 3. season chops with salt/Pepper. 4. Dredge Pork chops in flour 5. Add chops to Oil. 6. Cook Just to well browned on both sides. (DO NOT COOK ALL THE WAY THRU, ONLY TIL BROWNED) 7. Pour off the fat.
- 2. 8. Stir in the Soup, Water, Pepper, Celery, Thyme, and rice in the SAME PAN, Heat to a full boil. 10. COVER, & Reduce heat to Low. 11. Cook for 30 Minutes or til pork is cooked thru and the Rice is tender. 12. Stir the Rice occasionally. 13. (Optional,) Toss in peas and carrots 10 min prior to Rice being cooked. SERVE HOT and Enjoy.
RICE KRISPIES EASTER EGG TREATS WITH A HIDDEN SURPRISE
I found this on the Rice Krispies webpage. I haven't made them yet, but plan to at Easter. Looks like a fun activity for kids.

- Clean, then coat inside of plastic eggs with cooking spray. Set aside.
- In large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
- Add Kellogg's® Rice Krispies® cereal. Stir until well coated.
- Using greased hands, firmly press 1/4 cup of Rice Krispies® mixture into both halves of each plastic egg. Use fingers to make hollow center in each half. Remove from molds. Place on wax paper. Cool slightly.
- Place about 6 M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies in one half of each egg. Gently press two halves of each egg together until they stick. Cool completely.
- Decorate with frosting and additional M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies (if desired). Best if served the same day. Serving size is 1 egg.

- In a saucepan bring salted water to a boil. Add rice, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Rinse, drain, and chill the cooked rice.
- In a small glass or metal mixing bowl, whip the cream, adding sugar gradually until the cream becomes fluffy. Then, fold the whipped cream and drained pineapple into the chilled, cooked rice. Spoon the mixture into dessert dishes and serve.

Steps:
- Remove the seeds from the pepper, chop and parboil.
- Add pepper and onion, chopped fine, to the rice.
- Mix thoroughly and put a layer in a buttered baking dish.
- Add a layer of the sausages which have been partially cooked, and cover with rice.
- Pour milk over it all and dot with butter.
- Cover and bake for one-half hour.
- Remove the cover and bake for another half hour.
- Temperature: 350F Time: 1 hour.
