Winter Vegetables Au Gratin image

Number Of Ingredients 11

CHEESE SAUCE
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
1/2 pound American cheese, chopped
MAIN DISH
3 cups Kellogg's® corn flakes
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 (1-pound) package frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, cauliflower and broccoli)

Steps:

  • 1. In 2-quart saucepan, melt the 1/4 cup margarine over low heat. Stir in flour and salt. Add milk, stirring until smooth. Increase heat to medium and cook until mixture boil, stiring constantly. Continue cooking and stirring 1 minute longer. Add cheese, stirring until melted. Remove from heat.2. In small bowl, combine KELLOGG'S CORN FLAKES cereal, the 2 tablespoons margarine and garlic powder. Set aside.3. Cook vegetables according to package directions, until crisp-tender. Drain thoroughly. Combine hot vegetables and 2 cups of the cheese sauce. Spread evenly in shallow 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with cereal mixture.4. Bake at 350°F about 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated and cereal is golden brown. Serve hot.
