VEAL WITH MUSHROOMS AND SOUR CREAM image

Veal cut as for stew - every once in awhile it turns up in meat department but not too often.
Chicken or beef granules
thin onion slices
fresh mushrooms of any variety
sour cream
paprika
a heavy pot - Le Creuset or cast aluminum with a lid
aluminum foil

Steps:

  • Put a layer of thin onion slices on foil, meat chunks in single layer on top, sprinkle with chicken granules. Wrap up tight and put in small pot with lid. Put in oven set at 275 - 300. Check on it about 90 minutes later. If not tender, wrap it up again and continue. When cooked, set aside until ready to finish. Saute chopped mushrooms and put in the pot, unwrap the meat and add it and juices, add some sour cream and paprika and heat just to boiling point. Check seasoning. Serve with noodles. I used to put this in oven at noon and take it out when I came in from work. You could probably do it in slow cooker. Be sure you don't lose any of the juices as that is where the flavor is.
