- Combine shortening, 1/2 cup brown sugar, white sugar, egg yolks, flour, water, vanilla, and baking soda.
- Pat into 9 x 13 inch pan.
- Spread chocolate chips over it.
- Beat egg white until stiff.
- Gradually add 3/4 cup brown sugar.
- Spread over chips.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
