Treasured Brownies image

From my Mamaw's recipe collection.

Number Of Ingredients 17

FOR THE BROWNIES
1 cup(s) butter, melted and cooled
3 - eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1 cup(s) all purpose flour
1 cup(s) sugar
1 cup(s) packed brown sugar
3/4 cup(s) baking cocoa
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1 cup(s) chopped nuts
FOR THE ICING
1/2 cup(s) butter, softened
1 1/4 cup(s) powdered sugar
2/3 cup(s) baking cocoa
2 tablespoon(s) milk
2 tablespoon(s) hot brewed coffee
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, eggs and vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients; gradually add to butter mixture. Stir in nuts (do not overmix).
  • Spread into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  • In a small bowl, beat the icing ingredients until smooth. Spread over cooled brownies. Cut into bars.
