Sweet Pickles image

There are long and short process for canning of pickles. This one is the short process, and much easier.

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 gallon medium sized cucumbers, cut in 1" chunks
1/2 cup(s) salt
- boiling water
3 cup(s) granulated sugar
3 cup(s) apple cider vinegar
1 cup(s) water
1/2 teaspoon(s) turmeric
1 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
1 teaspoon(s) allspice
1 teaspoon(s) mustard seed
1 teaspoon(s) celery seed

Steps:

  • Combine cucumber chunks and salt. Place in a large enamel pot, add boiling water to cover. Let stand overnight and then drain.
  • Mix together sugar, vinegar and spices in a big stock pot. When it comes to a boil add the pickles and return to the boiling point.
  • Spoon into hot sterilized jars and seal.
