Number Of Ingredients 20

MEATOAF
2 lb ground beef
1/2 c grated sweet onion
1 slice white bread, torn into small pieces
2 large eggs
1/2 c whole milk
1 pkg Au Jus gravy mix
1/4 c ketchup
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp parsley flakes
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
SAUCE
3/4 c ketchup
1/4 c brown sugar
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cut the chill on the ground beef by setting it in a bowl for about 20 minutes.
  • 2. Grate the onion and break the bread into little pieces.
  • 3. Put the onion and the bread pieces in the bowl with the ground beef. Add the rest of the meatloaf ingredients: eggs, milk, Au jus packet, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, parsley flakes, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Gently mix with your hands or a spoon until combined. Don't overmix.
  • 4. Put the meat in a 9 x 5 loaf pan lined with a strip of parchment paper. Shape it into a loaf.
  • 5. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.
  • 6. While the meatloaf is baking, mix sauce ingredients.
  • 7. After 40 minutes spread 1/2 of the sauce over the top of the meatloaf. Bake for another 25 to 30 minutes or until a thermometer inserted reads 160 degrees.
  • 8. After it's cooked, remove the meatloaf from the pan by lifting the parchment paper. Top the meatloaf with the leftover sauce or serve it on the side.
