Steamed Spiced Shrimp image

Nothin better than a pile of steamed spiced shrimp (unless it's fresh crawfish which I can't find in Virginia), some spicey dipping sauce and an ice cold beer. That's livin!

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 lbs. raw shrimp
mccormick's pickeling spice
old bay seasoning
1 bottle of beer

Steps:

  • 1. Rinse shrimp well. Pour bottle of beer (I recommend you NOT use stout or the like. Something like Miller Highlife or such.) into medium Dutch oven.
  • 2. Place a layer of shrimp over beer, then sprinkle a thin layer of pickeling spice, then Old Bay seasoning (to taste), then a layer of shrimp and so on until all the shrimp are seasoned.
  • 3. With a large spoon, keep turning the shrimp during the steaming process until they turn pink. Do not over cook or they will be rubbery and tough.
