Steak Soup image

Sometimes when we make really large steaks we always have some left over. I put the bones and the leftover meat in freezer bags and freeze them until I collect enough for a nice stock for the soup. This is truely made for leftovers, you can put just about any combo of veggies you like.

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 to 4 large meaty steak bones, usually i use porterhouse
6 oz steak, more if you have it
32 oz container beef stock
2 tsp beef base
2 medium potatoes
1 large onion
1 c each diced carrots, green beans, corn, limas.
1 c frozen mixed vegetables
2 clove garlic
1/2 tsp each salt and pepper or to taste
1 tsp dry parsley
2 medium bay leves

Steps:

  • 1. Put a disposable liner in your slow cooker. You can find these in the zip lock bag department in most grocery stores.
  • 2. Dice the potatoes, onion, carrots. Cut the green beans into 1 inch pieces.
  • 3. Put the beef bones, steak, and the veggies into the slow cooker, add everything else
  • 4. Set slow cooker to low and cook for at least 6 hours.
