SPLIT PEA SOUP WITH HAM HOCKS image

Number Of Ingredients 6

16 ounces dried split peas
2 tablespoons olive oil and butter
1 cup onion, carrots, celery,
1 teaspoon oregano or thyme or marjaram
2 pieces ham hocks
8 cups broth and/or water

Steps:

  • Sort and rinse dried split peas
  • saute onion, celery, carrot and oregano in oil/butter
  • add ham hocks, broth and peas
  • bring to boil then simmer for 1-1/2 hours
  • remove ham hocks, cool and shred
