Sourdough Bread image

Crusty, firm center and robust taste. You would never know there is a beer in the dough. Perfect for fancy dinner parties or served with a robust stew. Versatile but Yummie!

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 c flour
1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c plus 2 tablespoons of warm water
1/4 c beer
1 Tbsp white vinegar

Steps:

  • 1. Stir ingredients to shaggy ball. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise 8 to 15 hours in a warm dry place. After dough is raised, knead 10 to 15 times. Make dough ball. Let rise 2 to 3 hours. Score top of loaf.
  • 2. Preheat oven to 500 degrees with the dutch oven in the oven. Reduce heat to 425 degrees. Put the bread in the oven while it is heated to 500 degrees. Bake in a dutch oven covered for 30 minutes. No need to grease the dutch oven.
