Snappy Ginger Apple Crisp image

Apple Crisp with fresh ginger root and a hint of heat.

Number Of Ingredients 12

½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup light brown sugar
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 Tablespoons Challenge Butter
½ cup oatmeal
2 Tablespoons ginger root
½ cup sugar
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
⅛ - ¼ teaspoon red pepper
3 Tablespoons corn starch
6 cups apples

Steps:

  • Topping
  • Step 1 Combine flour, sugars, and cinnamon in large bowl (or food processor bowl).
  • Step 2 Cut in butter cubes until mixture forms large clumps. (In food processor pulse 8 to 10 times.)
  • Step 3 Stir in Oatmeal and set aside. Filling
  • Step 1 Preheat oven to 375°F. In a small bowl combine sugar, cinnamon, red pepper and cornstarch; set aside.
  • Step 2 Combine apple slices and chopped ginger root. Stir in sugar/cornstarch mixture. Spread apple mixture in a 9-inch square baking pan.
  • Step 3 Sprinkle topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 45 minutes or until apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
