Slow Cooker Turkey Chili image

Another of Barb & Dad's recipes. We love chili, so this one sounds amazing!

Number Of Ingredients 17

1 1/2 pound(s) ground turkey
3 tablespoon(s) olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon(s) minced garlic
1 tablespoon(s) ground cumin
2 teaspoon(s) dried oregano
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 teaspoon(s) pepper
28 ounce(s) can tomatoes, undrained
10 3/4 ounce(s) chicken broth
2 1/2 cup(s) cannellini beas, drain and rinse
1 small can green chilies, drained
1 green bell pepper, sliced thin
1 cup(s) mexican style cheese
sour cream, optional
salsa, optional
chopped cilantro, optional

Steps:

  • Saute turkey in 2 T oil in large skillet about 5 min, break it up while cooking. Drain liquid. Put turkey in slow cooker. In remaining oil, sauce onion 4 min. Add garlic, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper. Saute 1 min. Add tomatoes and broth, simmer about 5 min. Stir in beans. Pour over turkey in slow cooker. Stir well. Cook on low 6 hours.
  • Stir in chilies, bell pepper and cheese. Cook,, uncovered, 10 min on high. Spoon into bowls, serve with sour cream, salsa and cilantro.
