Slow Cooked Chuck Roast image

This is an adapted recipe from the Mississippi Roast discovered on face book. The vegetables takes it from good to GREAT! And the aroma while cooking . . . Simply heavenly!

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 pound(s) boneless chuck roast
1 package(s) hidden valley ranch dressing (dry)
1 package(s) au jus gravy mix
1/2 - red onion
1 large carrot cut in 1 inch chunks
1 stalk(s) celery ribs
- fresh ground pepper (optional)
1 stick(s) butter
5 - pepperoncini peppers
8 - yukon gold potatoes small

Steps:

  • Place roast in a slow cooker. Rub all surfaces of the chuck roast with the dry Au Jus Mix. Sprinkle the remaining on top.
  • Sprinkle the ranch dressing across the top of the roast
  • Place butter in the middle of the roast and surround it with the peppere
  • Cook on high for two hours
  • Add the vegetables sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper. Set cooker on the low setting and continue to cook for three hours, check for doneness and continue cooking as needed.
