This hamburger gravy is an old favorite to many of us , who remember the ground beef over rice or mashed instant potatoes of the good ol' days...LOL Photo from Betty Crocker-not the recipe though.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
3 Tbsp all purpose flour
2 c milk
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
serve over mashed potatoes, or rice or noodles or toast or biscuits

Steps:

  • 1. Place hamburger and onion in a large skillet. Crumble and cook over medium high heat; add Worcestershire sauce, cook until evenly browned. Remove from heat and sprinkle flour over cooked hamburger. Stir until evenly coated and all the fat is absorbed.
  • 2. Place skillet over medium heat; add half the milk and stir until gravy is thicken . Add remaining milk until desired consistency has been reached and gravy comes to a boil Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • 3. Note: Sometimes I like to add a can of mushroom soup to this or a can of peas undrained. Great over waffles too!
