Steps:
- Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl beat butter until softened. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and almond extract and beat well. Add flour mixture and beat until well blended. Divide dough into fourths. Form each into a 12 inch roll. Place 2 rolls 4-5 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten until 3 inches wide. Brush flattened rolls with milk and sprinkle with almonds. Bake 12-14 minutes at 325 or until edges are slightly brown. (It was almost 20 minutes for my oven which is usually right.) While cookies are still warm, cut crosswise at a diagonal into 1 inch strips. Repeat with remaining dough. When cool, drizzle with icing: mix 1 cup powdered sugar, 1/4 teas. almond extract, and 3-4 teas. milk.
