Scalloped Potatoes image

Made it for the first time tonight and my family devoured it!

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 c thinly sliced potatoes
3 Tbsp butter
1 1/2 c milk
1 tsp salt
a dash of cayenne pepper
1 c grated cheddar cheese for sprinkle on top
paprika
3 Tbsp flour

Steps:

  • 1. In a small sauce pan, melt butter and blend in flour. Let sit for a minute.
  • 2. Add all of cold milk, stirring with a whisk. Season with salt and cayenne.
  • 3. Cook sauce on low until smooth and boiling, stirring occasionally with a whisk. Reduce heat and stir in cheese.
  • 4. Place a half of the sliced potatoes in a lightly greased one quart casserole dish.
  • 5. Pour half of cheese sauce over potatoes. Repeat with second layer of potatoes and cheese sauce.
  • 6. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top. Top with some paprika for color.
  • 7. Bake uncovered for about 45 mins at 350°F.
