SAUSAGE & ZITI CASSEROLE image

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 1/4 lb sausage
1 lg can diced tomatoes
1 sm tomato paste (mix w/beef broth to make thick gravy)
1 lg onion chopped
5 cloves garlic chopped
2 tbsp brown sugar
6 lg basil lves chopped (or more)
8 oz. fresh mozz cubed
1/2 tsp. Red Pepper Flakes
1 lb Ziti
1/2 C FRESH grated parm
1/2 C Italian Bread Crumbs
Olive Oil

Steps:

  • Preheat 325 oven Fry Sausage. Remove. In drippings, de-glaze w/red wine - fry up onion & garlic. Add back sausage, all remaining ingred but Mozz. Add Mozz w/cooked pasta (gently). Bake covered 30 minutes. Top w/Parm and bread crumbs (with drizzle of oil to moisten). Bake UNcovered for 20 more minutes.
