Salsa Turkey Chili image

Jarred salsa adds some zing to this easy chili recipe. Can also be done in a slow cooker. Brown meat and onions and then add everything to the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours.

1 Tbsp olive oil
1 lb ground turkey (can use ground beef)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 c salsa, chunky (jarred type)
2 can(s) (14.5 oz. each) tomato sauce
1 can(s) (4.5 oz) chopped green chilis
2 Tbsp tomato paste
2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp ground cumin
2 can(s) (15 oz. each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

Steps:

  • 1. In a large dutch oven, heat oil and cook ground turkey and onion over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring to break up turkey.
  • 2. Add remaining ingredients and cook on medium-low, covered, for 4 hours. Stir occasionally.
  • 3. Serve topped with grated cheddar and diced onions, if desired.
