QUICK & EASY CHEESE BREAD image

This recipe comes from a 40-year-old cookbook I believe belonged to my mother. I love, love, love cheese bread. One of my local supermarkets used to make it in their bakery but stopped several years ago and I haven't been able to find it since. This recipe is so easy I can make it anytime!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 - egg, beaten
1 cup(s) milk
1 tablespoon(s) minced onion
3 cup(s) bisquick biscuit mix
1 cup(s) grated sharp cheddar cheese
- butter

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine egg, milk, and onion. Let stand for 5 minutes. Stir together Bisquick and cheese. Stir in the milk mixture just to moisten; do not over-mix.
  • Turn batter into 3 greased loaf pans (6x3x2"). Bake in a pre-heated 350-degree oven for 25-30 minutes.
  • Let stand in pans for 5 minutes before turning out on a wire rack to cool. Serve with plenty of butter.
  • NOTE: If you prefer to use a large loaf pan, here are the directions. For a 9x5" loaf pan, bake in a 350-degree oven for 40-45 minutes. For a 8x4" loaf pan, bake in a 325-degree oven for 50-60 minutes. When using these larger pans, check the bread FREQUENTLY toward the last ten minutes of baking time, using the toothpick method.
