Number Of Ingredients 7

2 1/4 cup(s) self-rising flour
1 pinch(es) salt
9 ounce(s) milk
1/4 cup(s) grapeseed oil
4 tablespoon(s) butter
8 slice(s) crispy bacon, to serve (or more!)
1 cup(s) maple syrup, to serve

Steps:

  • Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Make a well in the center. Stir in the milk until a sticky dough forms, then turn onto a well floured surface and knead gently until smooth.
  • Roll out the dough until about 1/4 inch thick. Use a 3 1/2 inch round cutter to cut 12 discs from the dough, re-rolling scraps if needed.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large non-stick frying pan over medium-low heat. Cook 4 discs, turning, for 3-4 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat in 2 more batches until done.
  • Divide puftaloons among four plates and top with crispy bacon and maple syrup.
