Peanut Butter Fudge Candy image

My grandmother was the fudge maker!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb light brown sugar
1 Tbsp butter
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 c milk
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla
1 jar(s) (8 oz.) smooth peanut butter
1 c finely chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Dissolve brown sugar, butter and white sugar with milk. Cook until it forms soft ball stage (234-240 degrees on candy thermometer); test in small bowl of cold water. Add cornstarch dissolved in little cold water.
  • 2. Remove from stove and beat well. Add vanilla, peanut butter and nuts.
  • 3. Immediately transfer to buttered pan. Let cool to lukewarm; cut into squares.
