Old Fashioned Butter Roll image

My Grandmother said that her mother would make this for her and 12 brothers and sisters. They didn't have alot and she made this when the family wanted apple pie but didn't have apples. She made it for me and it taste like apple pie. I hope you think so too.

Number Of Ingredients 8

any pie crust recipe enough for bottom and top crust
3 stick butter or margarine
1 c apple cider vinegar
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Steps:

  • 1. Roll out dough made from your favorite pie crust recipe into a large circle. Sprinkle both sugars and spices on top of rolled out dough. Cut butter in pieces on top of dough and sugars. Roll dough up as if making cinnamon rolls or a jelly roll. Place in a greased pie pan. Pour apple cider vinegar on top of rolled up dough and let sit for 5 to 6 minutes. Cut a few more pieces of butter on top and also sprinkle some sugar on top also. Let bake about 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown. Please test for doneness.
