This roast has become a tradition in our family for New Years Day dinner. We love it whether it's made in the oven or, the crock pot.

Steps:
- 1. preheat oven to 375 -or- crock pot to high wash rinse and drain kraut on paper towel Season roast with salt, pepper, sage, garlic powder. Set aside
- 2. In large saute pan, heat oil, saute apples & onions til golden. Add kraut and whiskey-about 1/4 cup.
- 3. Layer kraut mixture in bottom of roasting pan or crock pot Add roast Cook 4 hours in Crock -or- 45min-1hour in oven. (if kraut looks dry in oven-add chicken stock or beer to moisten)
