New England Clam Chowder image

Clam Chowder is one of my very favorite things to eat. My husband is not a fan of seafood, so whenever we go out to eat, if available, I get some Clam Chowder. This is an old recipe that I had. It's been years since I made it but it is delicious. I hope you will enjoy it too. As my son used to say when he was little..."It's...

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 slice salt pork
4 medium potatoes, pared and cut into small cubes
1 small onion, diced
1 pt clams, cleaned and picked over
1 1/2 c evaporated milk or half and half
2 Tbsp butter

Steps:

  • 1. Fry bacon or salt pork, and add potatoes. Add the small onion, salt and pepper and clams. If using canned clams, drain. Add water to cover. Let cook until tender. Add butter and milk. You can use this same recipe for using scallops instead of clams.
