1 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons shortening
1 cup onion, diced
1 cup green pepper, chopped
1 jalapeno, seeded and chopped
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup ketchup
6 -8 onion rolls

Steps:

  • Brown meat and vegetables in a skillet with the shortening.
  • Drain off liquid.
  • In a small bowl combine mustard, sugar, vinegar, salt, pepper and ketchup.
  • Combine until well blended.
  • Pour sauce over meat mixture and combine until all coated.
  • Let simmer for 1 hour.
  • Serve on onion rolls.
