MY FAVORITE APPLE PIE image

Several year ago I began making this recipe. Every time I took it to a function, not a nibble was let. I hope you enjoy it too.

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 c peeled and sliced granny smith apples
1/4 c orange juice, fresh
1 c sugar
3/4 c all purpose flour, sifted
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
pinch of salt
1/4 c butter cut up while cool
whipping cream, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Pre heat oven at 375 degrees F. Butter a 9 inch pie plate. Arrange sliced apple in pie plate, mounding them up in the center. Pour orange juice over apples. set aside.
  • 2. in a medium sized mixing bowl combine flour, sugar,cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Cut in cool butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over apples.
  • 3. Bake 45-55 minutes until topping is brown and apples are tender. May serve warm with heavy cream if so desired.
