MULLED WINE (VIN CHAUD) image

1 bottle (750 ml) red wine (e.g. Cabernet Sauvignon, Beaujolais, Burgundy)
2 cups apple juice
3 tablespoons honey
3 sticks cinnamon
10 pods cardamom
8 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon anise seed

Steps:

  • Stir red wine, apple juice, honey, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, and anise together in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
  • Simmer until flavors blend, at least 10 minutes.
  • Pour into glasses through a strainer or use a spice bag to keep the spices in the pot and out of your glass.
