Steps:
- Combine chocolate, 1/2 cup milk, well-beaten egg, and 2/3 cup sugar in saucepan; cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Cool. Stir shortening to soften. Gradually add 1 cup sugar, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Add remaining eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour, soda, and salt together 3 times, Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with 2/3 cup milk, a small amount at a time. Beat after each addition until smooth. Blend in chocolate mixture. Bake in 2 paper-lined 9x1-1/2 inch round pans in moderate oven. 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. QUICK & EASY CHOCOLATE FROSTING 3 BARS (1 OZ) hershey's unsweetened baking chocolates, broken into pieces 1 cup miniature marshmallows 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened 1/3 cup milk 2-1/2 cups powdered sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract In medium saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate, stirring constantly. Add marshmallows; stir frequently until melted. (Mixture will be very thick and will pull away from sides of pan.) Spoon mixture into small mixer bowl; beat in butter. Add milk gradually, beating until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla; beat to desired consistency. About 2-1/4 cups frosting.
