Mom's No-Bake Cookies image

This is my mom's recipe, although I'm sure many people have this as a family recipe. My mom made these for me and my brothers all the time when we were kids. We usually add a little extra peanut butter to ours (we LOVE PB).

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 stick(s) butter
1/2 cup(s) milk
1 1/2 cup(s) sugar
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
3 - 4 tablespoon(s) peanut butter
2 tablespoon(s) cocoa powder
3 cup(s) oats, quick cooking

Steps:

  • In small bowl, combine oats and cocoa powder (this keeps the cocoa powder from clumping), set aside.
  • In large saucepan, combine butter, milk, and sugar. Cook over medium to medium high heat until boiling. Boil 1 minute, and remove from heat.
  • Add vanilla extract and peanut butter, stir until smooth, and peanut butter is completely melted.
  • Add the oats and cocoa powder mixture, stir until combined.
  • Drop by tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper to cool. You can also pour mixture into a buttered 8 X 8 square pan to cool if you prefer bar cookies.
