Meaty Homemade Pizza! image

Take out pizza is great but homemade pizza is even better! When my husband and I were first married, I found this pizza crust recipe in an old cookbook and tweaked it a bit. Been making this pizza now for nearly twenty-five years. Show your family how homemade pizza can be better than restaurant or store-bought!

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 package(s) yeast
1 1/4 cup(s) flour
1/2 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
1 teaspoon(s) salt
2 tablespoon(s) vegetable oil
1 cup(s) warm water
2 3/4 cup(s) flour (approx.)
1 jar(s) pizza sauce
1 pound(s) lean hamburger meat, browned
1 package(s) pepperoni slices
1/2 pound(s) canadian bacon
1/2 pound(s) sliced mushrooms, sauted (optional)
- grated cheese

Steps:

  • In a small mixing bowl dissolve yeast and garlic powder in the warm water. Allow to sit for about 10 minutes.
  • Stir in salt and vegetable oil. Then add 1 1/4 cup flour, stir well. Then gradually add and knead in remaining flour until dough is no longer sticky.
  • Place dough into a well oiled mxing bowl, and cover with a cloth. Allow dough to rise until doubled; approximately 1 hour. (for a thinner crust, only allow about 45 minutes to rise, then roll out dough).
  • Gently punch down dough. Press into lightly greased pizza pan. Using a fork, gently stab all over the pizza dough (this prevents the dough from rising too much during baking). Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • Allow to cool for later use, or go ahead and top with pizza sauce and browned hamburger meat, pepperoni, canadian bacon and grated cheese (or toppings of your choice). Bake pizza at 350 degrees for approximately 10 minutes or until cheese is melted to your preference.
