MARBLE TOP CHOCOLATE RUM PIE image

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 Cup Sugar
1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin (1 envelope)
dash salt
1 cup milk
2 egg yolks
6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
1/2 cup rum
2 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 baked 9-inch pastry shell

Steps:

  • In heavy saucepan, combine the 1/2 cup sugar, the gelatin and salt. Stir in milk and egg uolks. Cook and stir over low heat till slightly thickened. Remove from heat; add chocolate pieces; stir till melted. Add rum. Stir till partially set. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the 1/4 cup sugar beating till stiff peaks form. Fold into chocolate mixture. Wip cream with vanilla. Layer whipped cream and chocolate mixture in pastry shell, ending with whipped cream. Swirl the top to marble. Chill till firm.
