Maple-Walnut Topping image

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup maple syrup or maple-flavored syrup
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup walnuts coarsely chopped
1/3 cup whipped cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Additional whipping cream (optional)

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring syrup to a boil and boil for 7 minutes. Remove from heat.Stir in butter or margarine until melted. Stir in nuts, 1/3 cup cream and vanilla until well blended. For a thinner topping, add additional cream. Cool. Cover and refrigerate. Stir before serving. Serve over ice cream, cake or waffles.
