- In a large skillet, brown the bacon until crisp; drain well. Brown the sausage and chuck with onions; drain. Add all meats and ingredients to a crock pot. Be sure to add the chili powder slowly, tasting as you go and remembering that the sausage is hot. Stir, cover and cook on low setting for 6 to 10 hours. In a pot on top of the stove simmer about an hour.
