MACINTOSH APPLE PIE image

FILLING:
3/4 CUP SUGAR
1 TEASPOON CINNAMON
1/4 TEASPOON NUTMEG
1/4 TEASPOON ALLSPICE
1 TABLESPOON FLOUR (OR CORNSTARCH)
6 CUPS PEELED, CORED, SLICED MACINTOSH APPLES
1 TABLESPOON LEMON JUICE
2 TABLESPOONS BUTTER, CUT

Steps:

  • Combine the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and flour in a bowl. Place the sliced Macintosh apples in a roomy bowl and toss with the lemon juice. Then sprinkle the sugar mixture over the apples and toss thoroughly. Fill the pie shell with the apple mixture, mounding it higher in the center. The filling shrinks a lot during the baking. Dot the top of the apple pie filling with the 2 tablespoons of butter.Bake the pie in the middle of the oven for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and a knife inserted into the apples tests soft and cooked through. Continue to bake until the apples test done.
