Low-Fat Fudge Brownies Recipe - (4.4/5) image

1/2 c unbleached all-purpose flour
3/4 c unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 egg whites
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 c granulated sugar
1/2 c packed brown sugar
2/3 c unsweetened applesauce
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 c coarsely chopped walnuts
Confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • 1. PREHEAT the oven to 350°F. Grease a 13" x 9" baking pan. 2. COMBINE the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. 3. BEAT the egg whites until foamy in a large bowl with an electric mixer on low speed. Gently stir in the eggs, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well-combined. Blend in the applesauce and vanilla extract. Stir in the flour mixture. Stir in the walnuts. 4. SPREAD into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean. Do not over bake. Cool in the pan on a rack. Dust the confectioners' sugar over the brownies.
