Lisa's Sweet & Sour Meatloaf image

My family loves meatloaf, especially sandwiches that can be made with the left overs. But they were tired of the same old meatloaf choices, so I kicked up the meatloaf with a wonderful sauce on top. A great hit with all.

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 1/2 pound(s) lean hamburger
1/2 pound(s) sweet sausage
2 - eggs, beaten
1 cup(s) oatmeal, uncooked
1 teaspoon(s) sea salt
1 teaspoon(s) freshly ground pepper
1 1/2 cup(s) catsup
1/2 cup(s) tomatoe sauce
1 cup(s) brown sugar
2 teaspoon(s) apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoon(s) mustard, grainy
1 tablespoon(s) parsley flakes
1 tablespoon(s) garlic, minced

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  • In a large bowl, combine the hamburger, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, sea salt, pepper, parsley and garlic. Mix well. Place into a 13 x 9" ungreased cake pan. Spread around and flatten the top into a smooth and even top.
  • In a medium sized bowl, add the catsup, tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar; mix well. Pour on top of the hamburger mixture. Spreading around to cover all of the hamburger. Then spread the brown sugar evenly on top of the tomato mixture.
  • Place in the oven, uncovered. And bake according to the directions. Serve with mashed potatoes to sop up the sauce the hamburger makes, along with a refreshing tomato salad.
