- 1. Cook rice according package to directions. Stir-fry onions and peppers in oil until tender. Remove from skillet; set aside. Quick-fry beef strips until just brown. Add soy sauce, sugar, garlic and pepper to beef. Lower heat and simmer 10 minutes. Combine gravy mix and water; add to beef, stirring well for 3 to 5 minutes. Add green peppers, red peppers and onions and remaining ingredients. Cook covered on low heat until gravy is thickened. Do not overcook (5 to 6 minutes is sufficient). Serve over cooked rice.
