Izzy's Famous Meatloaf image

1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
1/2 cup A.1. Original Sauce
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. dry mustard
3 Tbsp. LEA & PERRINS Worcestershire Sauce
1 Tbsp. HEINZ Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Tbsp. oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper s
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
2 lb. lean ground beef
1 cup dry bread crumbs
1 carrot, finely shredded
1 egg, beaten
1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix first 6 ingredients until blended. Heat oil in large skillet on medium heat. Add onions, peppers and celery; cook and stir 4 to 5 min. or until crisp-tender. Spoon into large bowl. Add meat, bread crumbs, carrots, egg, black pepper and 1/2 cup tomato sauce mixture; mix just until blended.
  • Shape into 9x5-inch loaf in 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray; top with 1/2 cup of the remaining tomato sauce mixture.
  • Bake 1 hour 15 min. or until done (160°F). Serve topped with remaining tomato sauce mixture.
