INDIAN PILAF image

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 c butter or margarine
1 med onion, chopped
1.5 c uncooked rice
1/2 t salt
1/2 t allspice
1/2 t tumeric
1/4 t curry power
1/8 t pepper
3.5 c chicken broth (OR 3.5 c water and 4 chicken bouillon cubes)
1/4 c blanched slivered almonds

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350. 2. Melt butter in skillet. 3. Add onion and rice; cook and stir until rice is yellow and onion is tender. 4. Stir in next 5 seasonings. 5. Pour into ungreased 2 qt casserole. 6. Heat chicken broth to boiling. 7. Stir into rice mixture. Cover tightly. Bake at 350 for 30-40 min or until liquid is absorbed and rice is tender. 8. Stir in almonds.
