Homemade Bon Bons image

Until I saw this recipe online, the only time I ate Bon bons was at the movies, now I eat them any time I want them(which is too often!) I use Wilton candy melts but no oil,you decide, I don't think you taste the oil if you do decide to use it. Use any flavor ice cream,I use the milk chocolate because that's what I prefer, but you...

Number Of Ingredients 3

vanilla ice cream
6 ounces bittersweet chocolate
1 t. oil

Steps:

  • 1. Line a small baking pan or dish with parchment paper. Using a mini ice cream scoop (1.5 Teaspoon works best) scoop out small balls of ice cream - the rounder the better - and put them on the pan. Place the pan in the freezer so that the ice cream balls set. In a double boiler melt the chocolate. Once the chocolate has melted, stir in the oil. It just makes the chocolate even out a bit and also gives it a nice sheen. Let the chocolate cool slightly - then take the frozen ice cream balls out of the freezer. Using two forks, dip the ice cream balls into the chocolate, coating them completely. Work rather fast, the ice cream will start melting and the chocolate will start to harden before you know it. Again you may need to put the tray back in the freezer to harden during this process. Keep the bon bons in a sealed container the freezer and pull them out when you are ready to serve.
