Herbed Italian Salad Dressing image

This is a very basic oil and vinegar dressing. You can add any other herbs you may like. The little trick with the garlic is for when you don't want chunks of garlic in your salad but you would like a bit in your seasoning.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup(s) salad oil or olive oil
1/3 cup(s) wine vinegar
1 clove(s) garlic, sliced in half and skewered on a toothpick so it doesn't drop onto the salad
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 teaspoon(s) dried basil
1/2 teaspoon(s) dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon(s) pepper
1 teaspoon(s) dijon mustard

Steps:

  • Measure all ingredients into a bottle or jar. Cover tightly and shake well. Chill several hours. Shake thoroughly before serving. Makes ¾ cup.
