GROWN-UP FRANKS AND BEANS image

CHICAGO DOG SALAD
1/4 cup yellow mustard
2 tablespoons vinegar, eyeball it
1 rounded teaspoon sugar
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 of a 16-ounce sack shredded cabbage blend for slaw salads
2 vine ripe tomatoes, diced
3 large half sour or garlic pickles, chopped
Salt and pepper
8 pork or beef hot dogs, cut into 1-inch-thick slices on an angle (also can use kielbasa)
SPICY BEAN SALAD
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon hot sauce, mild to spicy, eyeball it
1 teaspoon ground cumin, 1/3 palmful, eyeball it
1 lemon, juiced
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil, eyeball it
1 small red or green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 red onion, finely chopped
1/4 seedless cucumber, chopped
2 handfuls (1/3 to 1/2 cup) flat-leaf parsley, chopped
2 cans butter beans, rinsed and drained well
Salt and pepper

Steps:

  • For franks salad: mix dressing ingredients, toss salad ingredients, grill snausages and place on top of salad For beans: Mix dressing ingredients, toss with salad ingredients, rinse beans and fold into salad
