Ground Beef In Pita image

Number Of Ingredients 11

4 pita bread rounds
2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp chopped onion
1 garlic clove, minced
2 Tbsp green pepper, minced
1 lb ground beef
1 Tbsp prepared mustard
1/2 tsp oregano
1 tsp salt
1 freshly ground black pepper
1.5 c tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Heat the bread in a low oven.
  • 2. Heat the butter in a skillet and saute the onion, garlic and pepper until just soft; do not brown.
  • 3. Add the beef, mustard, oregano, salt and a generous amount of pepper.
  • 4. Cook, stirring, until the meat is no longer red.
  • 5. At the last minute stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook briefly.
  • 6. Cut the pitas in half and stuff the pouches.
