GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE (IOWA-STYLE) image

Number Of Ingredients 12

4 12 0z. frozen French Style Green Beans
2 Tablespoons Butter, melted
4 Tablespoons Flour
1/2 tsp Pepper
1 tsp grated onion (or dried)
2 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
2 Cups Sour Cream
1 lb. Velveeta (shredded - tip: place cheese in freezer for short time prior to grating - little easier to grate)
CRUMB TOPPING
1 cup Corn Flake Crumbs
2 Tablespoons Butter

Steps:

  • Cook green beans and set aside. Combine butter and flour in large fry pan; cook gently. Add seasonings and grated onion. Remove from heat. Add Sour Cream. Fold mixture into green beans - place in shallow casserole - cover with grated Velveeta Cheese and pour into a 9" x 13" baking dish. Mix together Corn Flake Crumbs and Butter. Sprinkle Crumbs over Cheese. Bake 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Serves approx. 10
